Frequently Asked Questions
Are roof lanterns and roof lights the same thing?
No, although the two names frequently get mixed up. Roof lanterns and roof lights are both types of overhead glazing, but where roof lanterns project up from the structure and resemble glass pyramids, roof lights are flat and more closely resemble windows. Either one is an excellent choice for improving the home.
How energy efficient are roof lanterns?
Very, they’re designed to effectively trap household heat and make it easier to manage the internal temperature. Our roof lanterns can achieve U-values as impressive as 1.0 W/m²K and can be relied upon to keep homes warm.
Do roof lanterns get noisy if it rains?
No, this is a misconception. Our roof lanterns are engineered in such a way that this won’t be a problem. They won’t eliminate the noise of heavy rain and you’ll certainly be able to hear when the heavens open, but it’ll be more like a subdued background noise than a deafening hammering on the glass. You may even find it relaxing.
What are your roof lanterns made from?
We make our roof lanterns with ethically sourced uPVC, as it is highly versatile, hard-wearing, and reliable.
Can I fit a roof lantern on a sloping roof?
Sadly no, lanterns can only be attached to flat roofs. There are alternative glazing solutions for sloping roofs though, so if you’re working on a project like an attic extension and want to include windows, get in touch and we can point you in the right direction.
